Dr. Edith Mitchell Quoted In Jewish Exponent Article Entitled, "Over The Counter Intelligence: Can Non-prescription Drugs Help Fight Cancer?"

Jefferson medical oncologist Edith Mitchell, MD, FACP, of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson is quoted in a Jewish Exponent article entitled, "Over the Counter Intelligence: Can Non-Prescription Drugs Help Fight Cancer?."
Pancreatic cancer patients enrolled in a study at Jefferson are receiving intravenous infusions of vitamin C to determine if the vitamin can increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy. The amount of vitamin C they are receiving is 10 times the amount people could take by mouth, according to medical oncologist Edith Mitchell, who is involved in the ?G?-backed study. Found naturally in citrus fruits and available as a supplement, large amounts of vitamin C taken orally can cause stomach discomfort and absorption problems. Intravenous delivery that goes directly into the bloodstream eliminates those problems, Mitchell said. Full Article: http://readperiodicals.com/201110/2509398741.html

Dr. Edith Mitchell Quoted In Essence Magazine Article Entitled, "The Black Woman's Guide To Breast Cancer"
Jefferson medical oncologist Edith Mitchell, MD, FACP, of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson is quoted in an Essence Magazine article entitled, "The Black Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer."

Dr. Mitchell responds to one of the many questions in the guide: "What if I feel a lump?" She advises, "Don't wait any longer than one month for follow-up." This is especially important because African American women are more likely to develop aggressive tumors, and fast action might mean a less aggressive form of treatment if necessary.
