Mr. Karl J. Smalley is interested in the development of Relational Database Applications, Computer Programming and Applied Statistics. He developed several web-based reservation/on-line billing systems for SKCC Shared Resources. He developed a web-based result download applications for both the Nucleic Acid Facility and the Microarray Facility. He also developed most of the department specific Administrative Applications which were used for various periods of time by the SKCC, the Department of Cancer Biology, the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Department of Pharmacology and Department of Medical oncology at Thomas Jefferson University. He developed a web-based, protocol driven, weight based Chemotherapy Medication Ordering System for the TJUH Pharmacy. He developed multi-user Mouse Allele Database application in Oracle & C for tracking/recording genetic drift. Developed a document distribution application for the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Network, to allow fast and efficient dispersal of documents pertaining to active clinical trial protocols. He assisted in the development and maintenance of the electronic serious adverse event tracking system (eSAEy). developed and maintains the electronic Unanticipated Problem Reporting system (eazUP) and developed and maintains the electronic submission application (Portal) or the TJU Department of Human Research. Has developed/maintained applications which present various subsets of Clinical Trails information to the Senior Leadership, clinicians and patients (originally from an in-house CTMS product which he helped develop and more recently from the Forte onCore CTMS). He has helped researchers with graphics design and basic statistical analysis. He is responsible for producing several Data Tables for the SKCC CCSG application. He has also been involved in the Informatics Shared Resource's caBIG projects.Previously, He also helped SKCC researchers with their computing needs (maintenance, purchasing, etc.). Developed SMART (SKCC Member Administrative Reporting Tool - fka CCSGPubs) application to collect and report SKCC publications and grant funding in CCSG Grant applications. Re-wrote and maintained the Tumor Measurement Request Application for oncology clinical trials that require radiological assessment of tumor progression during trial.
